Big Gull Lake: Notes
  • Big Gull Lake is located on the east side of Hwy. 41 northeast of Northbrook Ontario in Frontenac County
  • co-ordinates: Lat. 44° 49' 37"  Long. 76° 58' 08"
  • Big Gull Lake is part of the upper Mississippi River drainage basin. Gull Creek flows out of the lake on the northeast end flowing into Crotch Lake
  • except for the shallow western section (Little Gull Lake), Big Gull does not have a lot of weed growth
  • much of the shoreline is private (cottages and resorts) except for an area of crown land along the north central shore
  • while the lake reaches depths of 85', the average depth is 12.9'
  • the perimeter is 88 km (55 miles)
  • the lake is 21 km. (13 miles) long
  • the deeper and rockier eastern basin favours walleye and smallmouth bass while the western basin (Little Gull Lake) favours largemouth bass and pike
  • major fish species include large and smallmouth bass, walleye, pike and perch. While muskie have also been stocked in the lake, the population is not significant
  • Big Gull Lake is located within Fisheries Management Zone 18
