  • Callander Bay is located on the southeast end of Lake Nipissing near the city of North Bay
  • the bay is approx. 4.8 km wide and 6.4 km long
  • maximum depths reach 20'
  • the bottom is composed primarily of sand
  • the Wasi River flows into the bay on the southeast end and Wasi Falls is a major walleye spawning area in the spring and a popular fishing area when the season opens
  • weed beds are found near shore areas and around the islands at the west end of the bay
  • there are rock rubble shoreline stretches that attract smallmouth bass (and walleye) as do the shoals  in the channels connecting the bay to the lake
  • the major fish species include walleye, large and smallmouth bass, pike, muskie, perch, herring and whitefish
  • Callander Bay is situated within Fisheries Management Zone 11
