Centennial Lake: Quick Facts
  • Centennial Lake is located just southeast of the town of Griffith Ontario in Renfrew County
  • co-ordinates: Lat. 45° 09' 02"  Long. 77° 03' 00"
  • Centennial, along with Black Donald Lake, is a reservoir lake which was created with the construction of the Mountain Chute Dam at the end of the 1960's.
  • the Madawaska River flows into the lake on the northwest side. The stretch of river from Griffith to Centennial Lake (which is a sanctuary area for a short period in the spring) is a popular walleye fishing area when the season open. During the summer walleye move towards the main lake. Your fishing efforts should focus on points, channels and narrows, shoals and the rubble shorelines of the mainland and islands. Smallmouth bass can also be caught in these areas. Weedy backbays are good for largemouth bass and pike
  • while the lake reaches depths of 100'+, the average depth is 45'
  • there are several public boat launch sites. One is along Flying Club Road just south of Griffith. Another is along Matawatchan Road at Camel
    Chute. A third is further along Matawatchan Road at the bridge which crosses the river just before the lake
  • the major fish species include small and largemouth bass, walleye, and pike
  • Centennial Lake is located within Fisheries Management Zone 15
