Cranberry Lake: Quick Facts
  • Cranberry Lake is located adjacent to Hwy. 15 north of Kingston in Frontenac County
  • co-ordinates: Lat. 44° 26'  Long. 76° 18'
  • Cranberry Lake is part of the Rideau Canal System
  • the lake connects to Little Cranberry Lake to the north and to Dog Lake via Fiddler's Elbow on the southwest side. The Rideau River enters on the southeast side
  • while the lake reaches depths of 18', the average depth is 5'
  • the lake has eutrophic features in that it is fairly high in nutrient content, weedy and warm. The shoreline is quite irregular with many points, weedy bays and back bays (some of which contain submerged logs and stumps). There are also many islands, rocks piles and shoals that attract smallmouth bass
  • access to the lake can be obtained from a private campground near the Brass Point Bridge on the northeast end of the lake
  • major fish species inlcude large and smallmouth bass, northern pike, perch, bluegill and black crappie
  • Cranberry Lake is located within Fisheries Management Zone 18
