Desert Lake: Quick Facts
  • Desert Lake is located along County Road 19 (Desert Lake Road) east of Godfrey Ontario in Frontenac County
  • co-ordinates: Lat. 44° 32'  Long. 76° 35'
  • while the lake reaches maximum depths of 224', the average depth is 73'
  • the perimeter of the lake is 28 km (17.5 miles)
  • the surface area is 382 hectares (944 acres)
  • water flows into the lake on the north end from Canoe Lake
  • the lake has a naturally reproducing population of lake trout. These fish can be caught in the deeper water off of main lake points, shoals and humps and along quick breaking  rocky shorelines
  • there are a number of shallow bays with some weed growth that hold pike and largemouth bass. With cisco as a forage fish, larger pike should be targeted in deeper summer waters which is closer to their preferred water temperature
  • a public boat launch is located on the south end of the lake adjacent to Mitchell's Creek bridge
  • the major fish species include large and smallmouth bass, pike, lake trout, perch and black crappie
  • Desert Lake is located within Fisheries Management Zone 18
