  • Gowganda Lake is located along Hwy. 560 west of Elk Lake adjacent to the village of Gowganda in the District of Timiskaming
  • co-ordinates: Lat. 47° 37' 41"  Long. 80° 47' 14"
  • the lake is part of the Montreal River system. The river enters the lake on the southeast side. There are weedbeds and submerged logs in the river that provide good cover for pike and bass. Walleye can also be caught in the river and Inlet Bay at the start of the season
  • while the lake reaches maximum depths of 148' (in the Great South Bay basin), the average depth is approx. 26'
  • the perimeter of the lake is 57 km (35 miles)
  • there are several public access points on the lake at the village of Gowganda
  • much of the property around the lake is Crown Land
  • weedbeds (found in a number of shallow bays), extensive rocky shorelines, islands, points, shoals and quick drop offs provide good structure for walleye and smallmouth bass fishing
  • the major fish species include northern pike, smallmouth bass, walleye, whitefish and perch
  • Gowganda Lake is located within Fisheries Management Zone 10
