  • Head Lake is part of a 5 chain lake which also includes Grass, Kashagawigamog, Soyers and Canning Lake
  • water flows into the lake on the southeast side via the Drag River
  • the lake has a perimeter of approx. 5 km (3.1 miles). It is relatively shallow reaching a maximum depth of 18'. The average depth is 8'
  • there is a variety of near shore cover including lily pad beds, reeds, cattail, weed beds, stumps and logs providing good fish cover
  • there is a no fishing sanctuary area on the Drag River in the spring
  • major fish species include large and smallmouth bass, walleye and muskie
  • a public boat launch on the south side of the lake is managed by the township
  • Head Lake is within the boundaries of Fisheries Management Zone 15
