Island Lake: Quick Facts
  • Island Lake is located at the town of Orangeville Ontario in the Region of Dufferin
  • co-ordinates: 43° 56' 08"  Long. 80° 05' 12"
  • the lake was formed in 1967 with the construction of a north and south dam on the Credit River. As a result a large swamp and small lake were flooded to create the new 182 hectare reservoir. It became known as the Orangeville Reservoir
  • the deepest area of the lake is located in the eastern arm where the depth reaches 20'+
  • there are lots of fallen trees, submerged logs and stumps in the east end providing excellent cover for all the fish species. Extensive weed growth in the shallows do the same thing
  • gas motors are not permitted on the lake
  • there is a public boat launch and dock inside the conservation area
  • the major fish species include largemouth bass, northern pike, perch, black crappie, pumpkinseed and catfish
  • Island Lake is situated within Fisheries Management Zone 16
