Lake Rosseau: Quick Facts
  • co-ordinates: Lat. 45° 10' 25"  Long. 79° 35' 54"
  • Lake Rosseau is located in the Muskoka District adjacent to Lake Joseph. It is situated on the southern end of the Canadian Shield. Like its neighbour to the west, Rosseau's water is clear, deep (250'+) and fairly low in nutrient content. Nevertheless there are some shallower weedy areas found mostly in channels and in the back end of numerous bays that surround the lake. These are good pike spots in the spring or for largemouth bass
  • the Skeleton and Rosseau Rivers enter the lake on the northeast side of the lake
  • there are a number of good public boat launching sites including ones at the village of Rosseau and at the head of Skeleton Bay
  • major fish species include lake trout, walleye, smallmouth bass, pike, muskie, whitefish, largemouth bass. Cisco are the main forage fish
  • Lake Rosseau is located within the boundaries of Fisheries Management Zone 15
