Lauzon Lake: Quick Facts
  • Lauzon Lake is located west of Sudbury on the north side of Hwy. 17 near the town of Algoma Mills in the District of Algoma
  • co-ordinates: Lat. 46° 12' 51"  Long. 82° 49' 32"
  • Lauzon is a typical deep, clear and cold water Canadian Shield lake. There are a dozen creeks that flow into the lake. Water flows out of the lake via a dam at Lauzon Creek. The lakes consists of 4 basins  connected by  shallow narrows. The deeper western basin favours the lake trout fishery
  • while the lake reaches maximum depths of 270', the average depth is 52'
  • the perimeter of the lake is 73.6 km (46 miles) and is approx. 21 km (13 miles) long
  • there is a smelt run on the Lauzon Creek between the dam and Lake Huron in April. Trout and salmon also move up this stream at different times of the year
  • the major fish species include smallmouth bass, lake trout, muskie, northern pike, whitefish and perch
  • a good public boat launch is located beside the Lake Lauzon Public Beach at Algoma Mills
  • Lauzon Lake is included in Fisheries Management Zone 10
