McCrae Lake: Fast Facts
  • McCrae Lake is located on the west side of Hwy. 400 across from Six Mile Lake Provincial Park in the Muskoka District
  • co-ordinates: Lat. 44° 56'  Long. 79° 48'
  • much of the land surrounding the lake is crown land. Parts of the lake are included in the McCrae Lake Wilderness Area. Several public campsites are located along the shoreline
  • access to the lake is via a 250 metre portage from McDonald Lake (which has an access point  off of Georgian Bay Road)
  • the lake was stocked with lake trout in the 1970's but a thriving population was never established
  • the perimeter of the lake is 22.9 km (14.3 miles)
  • while the lake reaches depths of 27.6 metres (90'), the average depth is 8.8 metres (28')
  • major fish species include large and smallmouth bass, pike, walleye, crappie and yellow perch
  • McCrae Lake is located within Fisheries Management Zone 15
