  • Oba Lake is located north of the town of Wawa in the District of Algoma
  • co-ordinates: Lat. 48° 38' 44"  Long. 84° 17' 19"
  • the Chapleau Game Preserve borders the lake on the east side
  • the Oba River flows into the lake on the northwest side and exits the north end. The Tatnall River flows in on the north side. 10 other creeks and streams flow into the lake
  • while the lake reaches maximum depths of 43', the average depth is 13'
  • the lake has a perimeter of 78 km (49 miles). It is 22 km (14 miles) long
  • the surface area is 2,455 hectares (6,067 acres)
  • the lake supports a warm water fishery. It has an earned reputation for quality walleye and northern pike fishing
  • access to the lake is either by float plane or the Algoma Central Railway based in Sault Ste. Marie. The railway runs along the east side of the lake
  • the major fish species include walleye, northern pike, perch, cisco (herring) and whitefish
  • there are several sanctuary areas  on the lake
  • Oba Lake is located in Fisheries Management Zone 7
