  • Onaping Lake is located on the east side of Hwy. 144 northwest of Sudbury in the District of Sudbury
  • co-ordinates: Lat. 47° 08' 20"  Long. 81° 31' 15"
  • Onaping Lake was originally a series of lakes but became a single lake following the construction of the Onaping and Bannerman Dams
  • this large and long lake has a perimeter of 270 km (168 miles). It is approx. 76 km (48 miles) in length
  • while the lake reaches maximum depths of 175', the average depth is 34'
  • just about every type of structure can be found from rocky points, shoals, reefs, narrows and channels, underwater humps at various depths, islands, saddles, rubble shorelines, rock piles, quick and slow tapering drop offs etc.. Large weed beds as well as submerged logs and stumps can be found in many of the bays and back bays
  • the major fish species include northern pike, walleye, smallmouth bass, lake trout, whitefish, cisco and yellow perch
  • Onaping Lake is located within Fisheries Management Zone 10
