  • Opinicon Lake is located along Opinicon Road east of Frontenac Provincial Park in Leeds and Grenville County
  • co-ordinates: Lat. 44° 33' 32"  Long. 76° 19' 42"
  • Opinicon Lake is part of the Rideau Canal system. The connection to Indian Lake is via Chaffey's Lock. Access to Sand Lake is via Davis Lock
  • while the lake reaches depths of 35', the average depth is 8'
  • the perimeter of the lake is 57 km (35.3 miles)
  • the surface area is 787 hectares (1,944 acres)
  • the lake is quite fertile in nutrient content. The bays and back bays are quite shallow with extensive weed and lily pad beds. Submerged logs and stumps are plentiful making for excellent largemouth bass and pike habitat. There are also a number of islands, rock piles, shoals and underwater humps around which smallmouth bass and pike feed
  • sanctuary areas are located at Darlings Bay and Murphy Bay
  • the major fish species include large and smallmouth bass, pike, perch, bluegill and black crappie
  • Opinicon Lake is situated within Fisheries Management Zone 18
