Pusey Lake: Fast Facts
  • Pusey Lake is situated adjacent to the village of Wilberforce Ontario in Haliburton County
  • co-ordinates: Lat. 45° 02' 57"  Long. 78° 12' 54"
  • Pusey Lake, also known locally as Dark Lake, consists of 2 basins, the deeper of which stratifies thermally in the summer and turns over in the fall
  • water flows into the lake at the north end from Cardiff Creek and Grace Lake. There is a dam on the southwest end which regulates the water levels. Water flows out via the Irondale River
  • the perimeter of the lake is 5.6 km (3.5 miles)
  • while the lake reaches depths of 125', the average depth is 33'
  • to maintain the lake trout population a shortened season is in effect
  • the narrows connecting the 2 basins is quite shallow and has weedy areas
  • a public boat launch is located off of Hwy.648
  • major fish species include lake trout and smallmouth bass
  • Pusey Lake is located within Fisheries Management Zone 15
