Puslinch Lake: Quick Facts
  • Puslinch Lake is located on the south side of Hwy. 401 east of Cambridge Ontario in Wellington County
  • co-ordinates: Lat. 43° 25' 00"  Long. 80° 15' 54"
  • Puslinch is the largest kettle lake in southwestern Ontario with a surface area of 156 hectares (385 acres)
  • the lake is fed by springs and surface runoff
  • the deepest area of the lake reaches 15'. The average depth is 5'
  • the perimeter of the lake is 5.9 km (3.7 miles)
  • the bottom consists mostly of mud and silt. The lake has been dredged in the past to remove excessive silt
  • Puslinch Lake is considered a eutrophic lake in that it is high in nutrient content. This has stimulated weed growth (coontail, milfoil and cabbage weed)
  • muskie and smallmouth bass were stocked many years ago but neither species established a viable population
  • walleye have also been stocked and there is limited reproduction in the deeper water and around the shoals
  • the major fish species inlude largemouth bass, pike, perch, black crappie, bluegill and a small population of walleye
  • Puslinch Lake is situated within Fisheries Management Zone 16
