  • Thunder Lake is located along the north side of Trans Canada Hwy 17 approx. 11 km. east of the town of Dryden in Northwestern Ontario
  • co-ordinates: Lat. 49° 46' 43"  Long. 93° 39' 47"
  • Thunder Lake is the product of retreating glaciers which covered the region thousands of years ago
  • while the lake reaches maximum depths of 23.5 m (77'), the average depth is 11.1 m (36'). the surface area is 1123 hectares (2773 acres)
  • about a dozen small islands as well as rock outcroppings, bays, points and a couple of sandy beaches are located along the lake's perimeter
  • the major fish species include smallmouth bass, walleye, lake trout, northern pike, perch, whitefish and cisco
  • a public boat launch is located within the boundaries of Aaron Provincial Park situated on the south side of the lake
  • Thunder Lake is located within Fisheries Management Zone 5
