  • Whitefish Lake is located off of Hwy. 101 northeast of the town of Wawa Ontario in the District of Algoma
  • co-ordinates: Lat. 48° 02' 23"  Long. 84° 27' 11"
  • Whitefish Lake is part of the Michipicoten River system. The lake connects to Manitowik Lake on the north end via a narrows. The Michipicoten River exits the lake on the south end on its way to Lake Superior
  • while the lake reaches maximum depths of 180', the average depth is 55'
  • the perimeter of the lake is 54 km (33.9 miles)
  • the surface area is 1,655 hectares (4,090 acres)
  • there are more than a dozen streams and creeks flowing into the lake. Fish these inflows for walleye and pike
  • the lake trout fishery is not as strong as that of adjoining Manitowik Lake
  • there is a sanctuary area on the Shikwamkwa River in the spring
  • the major fish species include northern pike, walleye, lake trout, whitefish, smallmouth bass and yellow perch
  • Whitefish Lake is located within Fisheries Management Zone 7
